"Then He is Read?"

At the end of the entire play Macbeth gets killed. Was it worth all the trouble? I don't think so. Macbeth did nothing while he was king that was good for the people and on top of that he didn't even enjoy it himself. The entire time he had power he was miserable and paranoid (having hallucinations about the people he murdered). Macbeth ruined many innocent lives and his own with no positive result for himself, his wife, or the people. This is a good example of why atrocious crimes aren't worth doing. Even when one gets away with a crime on a large scale they will end up having to cover it up and worry about maintaining the lie they have made their life. They will never be able to be close to other people because they will always have things to hide. In the end, no matter what the reward may be, obtaining something in a deceitful manner will 9 times out of 10 end in a situation that is worse than the one they began in.

  1. I completely agree with your opinion, Macbeth was acknowledged and was to be seen above many thanes and people- why couldn't he just accept this honor and continue his life? Then again, we must take in consideration of the three witches, who although were not consistently present throughout the play, had a huge influence on Macbeth. It just goes to show how evil can ruin one's life. Lesson well learned.

  2. I also agree; it wasn't worth it. If Macbeth continued to hide his murders, he would eventually break to pieces. I think Lady Macbeth died due to your reason of a harsher situation than they started with. They were not expecting all of this to create a domino effect, and surely it did, with Macbeth lying, then killing, then protecting the crown. What a horrible situation to be put in.

  3. I agree with this a lot. Macbeth knows what hes doig but he continues to do it because he needs to hide the pervious thing but each time he commits another act of treason, there is more and more webs of lies he has to form. I agree that he has trouble becoming close to people and maintaining friendships after his first kill.
